This free program is aimed towards the English-speaking expat community who live, either full or part-time, in the Florence, Italy area. Group founder Lily Mordà, along with husband Tim, have been living in Italy for 8+ years.
Along with the joys of living in this truly remarkable country, there are also many challenges. Those challenges are often best met with the assistance of one who knows and understands the situation. And, while immersion in the local culture is often the objective of many new immigrants, it doesn't have to mean discarding one's own culture and language entirely. In our case, which is also the case of many who chose to settle in Italy from various parts of the world, our mother-tongue is English.
The goal of this group is to provide a supportive and comfortable environment in which we meet one another, help one another and hopefully form a community of friends sharing common experiences. Meetings will be conducted in English. Participants from all countries, regardless of their mother-tongues, who also speak English, are welcome and encouraged to come. Because communities don't just happen...they are created.
